Small Town Fairytales

This particular post dates back to early 2011. It's one of my favorite shoots that I collaborated with the Arts Society of Pakil, a community organization of young artists ranging from photographers, designers to hair and make up artists from the small town of Pakil, Laguna. They asked me via email if I have the time to do a photo shoot with them. They just had to ask because of my hectic TV job. I immediately said yes, even though I'm not sure of it. But eventually I made it so yay! I was supposed to be a second shooter for a friend, but I ended up being the only photographer there.

The theme was basically a modern twist to the traditional Filipiniana clothes. Asides from the clothes, we also have paper mache horses and whitlings as props and our very reliable historical church and the Laguna de Bay as background. It seems like a high fashion photo shoot, but for me, I just had to inject a romantic feel to it. And so, couple shots became my ticket to a faritytale-like shoot that I've always wanted to do.

With a handful of models and only one photographer, I ended up running around the place. I had to shoot and run for the next set-up. But the shoot was systematized and there was no waiting, the place have already been set-up and all I have to do is click away. It was a tiring day, but the creative team and I managed to squeeze in a few dozen laughs in between shots and taking some ridiculous outtakes as well.
